Filafi Fithu: Naga designer’s shoe line in Delhi

Filafi Fithu, a Naga shoe designer  made a name  for herself in the world of design on Sunday by launching her own range of designer shoes.  Labled “Filafi Fithu”, the shoes are manufactured in Italy with some of the finest materials.

A graduate of Patkai Christian College, Filafi  quit her government job, which many people would consider “prestigious” as she also acquired it through NPSC examination. But instead, she pursued her love for footwear and chose the capital city, Delhi to launch her label.

Twenty of her exclusive designs in variety of colours were unveiled on Sunday, stealing the admiration of both her loved ones and passers-by. And even as Filafi Fithu store opens to public in one of the posh areas of Delhi in M-Block Market, Greater Kailash-I, she becomes one of the few daring Naga youth to venture out and compete with the world outside.

While the journey to accomplishing such a rare feat has not been easy, one can find a role model in Filafi Fithu, who received her early education from Meluri and spent her high school life in a small town, but still managed to dream big and get there.

The shoe designer is also a gold medal recipient of the Central Footwear Training Institute (CFTI) Agra for doing exceptionally well in her post graduate course in Footwear Designing and Technology.

Filafi Fithu store caters to a range of trendy and classic shoes, to make women feel comfortable in their shoes. Filafi plans to open more outlets across India, while process is also underway for opening another retail store in Romania.

Amongst several others who attended the launch, Nagaland’s very own Esther Jamir, who modeled for Filafi Fithu Shoes, was also present along with her Delhi counterparts.
